The U-15 baseball team of the Dominican Republic will have a tough fight to advance in the Pre-World Championship of the category, facing Argentina, Mexico, Panama, Brazil and the Bahamas in their group, which will begin this March 16.

Hosting the event to be held at the Baseball City complex in Boca Chica, east of Santo Domingo, the Dominicans will seek to be one of the five qualifiers for the world championship of the World Baseball and Softball Confederation (WBSC). ).

The Dominican Republic begins its participation against Argentina, then faces Panama on Sunday and on Monday the 18th the hosts will go against Mexico. On Tuesday the 19th their rivals will be Bahama and they will close the group stage against Brazil.

Group B of the contest is made up of Venezuela, Cuba, Puerto Rico, Nicaragua, Peru and Guatemala. Six games will be held daily starting this Saturday starting at 10 in the morning.

The final part of the event will be played on Thursday the 21st from the same time, facing the third from group A and B, for the best fifth place, at the same time the second from A and B will measure forces for the bronze medal, and the gold is scheduled for 11:30 between the best from A and B, where the Dominicans hope to be.

“It is very important for us that this U15 World Cup championship can be held in the country, which shows that the Dominican Republic has all the capacity to do so, in addition to the fact that we have great sports facilities, especially those of Baseball City,” baseball commissioner Junior Noboa declared in a press release.

Baseball City has 12 baseball fields and was home to six Major League Baseball (MLB) organizations.

The sixth edition of this Pan-American baseball championship marks the first time that the Dominican Republic hosts a tournament of this category, endorsed by the WBSC. The tournament is dedicated to Aracelis León, president of WBSC Americas.
