Recognition for Young Athletes of La Popular Martial Arts Society in 2024 Fijlkam Italian Ju Jitsu Championships

The Sports Councilor Pietro Petruzzelli this morning presented a recognition from the municipal administration to the young athletes of the La Popular martial arts society for the prestigious results obtained in the 2024 Fijlkam Italian ju jitsu championships, for the ne-waza and fighting system.

Present at the awards ceremony were the regional president of Fijlkam (Italian Judo Wrestling Karate Martial Arts Federation) Francesco Saverio Patscot, the president and technician of asd La Popular Noemi Chirivì and the vice presidents and technicians Teresa Antonacci and Nunzio Chirivì.

“Today we reward – explained Pietro Petruzzelli – very young athletes who commit themselves, every day, to pursuing their sporting passion, and do so at the cost of great sacrifices, even more notable considering their age. The administration has always been committed to promoting all sporting disciplines, obviously including martial arts, which are characterized by the positive values they express, such as respect for the rules and fairness. These guys have stood out, on and off the tatami, as model people, and represent the healthy part of our society. One day they may become champions or not, but what matters most is that they have understood and appreciated the educational and human aspect of sport.”

“Today Fijlkam – added Saverio Patscot – represents all martial arts disciplines and includes over 350 sports associations in Puglia, among which La Popular stands out, which in February forcefully established itself in the Italian ju jitsu championship held in Ostia. My thanks go to councilor Petruzzelli, who now represents a point of reference for the growth of sport in Puglia, for the sensitivity shown towards us and the entire world of sport in general”.

“We have a technical staff – said Nunzio Chirivì – which allows us to participate in various national competitions, in ju jitsu but also in Judo. We thank councilor Petruzzelli because today, by rewarding these young people with great will, he sends them a clear message: to see sport not only as a physical activity but also as a moment of aggregation and sharing both victories and defeats. In Ostia we brought home eleven Italian titles, six in the fighting system specialty and the other five in newaza, and we have grown considerably compared to past editions. But, regardless of the sporting successes, the attention from the administration Barese is important because it recognizes us as local athletes, athletes who grow and put themselves at the service of other kids who want to take up this discipline.”

The awarded children are: Sofia Altini, Carol Altini, Alessandro Cuccovillo, Suami Tomasicchio, Rossella Gravina, Antonio De Zio, Alessandro Perchiazzi, Nicole Ladisa, Mattia Carlucci, Antonio Cuccovillo.
