Qiddiya Speed Park: The Future of Formula 1 Racing and Entertainment

The plans for the newest circuit in the Formula 1 series are really ambitious. Nowadays, however, it is no longer just about the track itself.

The current venue for the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix is the Jeddah City Circuit. However, the latest plans show a possible change of location that will take the entire entertainment industry around Formula 1 racing to a new level. A new track could be built in the Arab country within three years, which will be part of a massive amusement park in the futuristic city of Qiddiya.

The new Qiddiya Speed Park racing circuit is looking to enter the F1 calendar in 2027 at the earliest. It was designed by well-known architect Hermann Tilke and former F1 pilot Alexander Wurz. Thanks to the configurable layout, it wants to offer up to 21 turns, regardless of the elevation reaching up to 108 meters.

The most interesting element of the circuit is the rising turn No. 1, nicknamed “The Blade”, which is basically a bridge on giant pillars, under which there are other entertainment options for visitors to the area, including a concert hall. To make matters worse, a high-speed roller coaster is displayed next to the long finish line.

You will not actually find traditional grandstands on the designs of the circuit, they are to be replaced by viewing terraces. After all, the events on the track can be watched according to the promotional materials, for example, from the high-placed glass pool. However, the company behind the megalomaniacal project ultimately promises that, regardless of the available attractions, the design of the circuit itself is primarily intended to guarantee watching exciting races.
