Puy Coach Reflects on Coupe de France Elimination and Focuses on League Challenge Ahead

“We knew that at one point the light was going to go out,” commented Puy coach (National 2), Stéphane Dief, after the elimination of his team by Rennes (1-3), this Thursday evening, at the Geoffroy-Guichard stadium in Saint-Étienne, in the quarter-finals of the Coupe de France.

“We knew we were going to fall back into our daily lives at some point. And our daily life is rather nice at Le Puy, with a challenge to take up in the Championship,” added Dief at a press conference. Le Puy, relegated from National last spring, occupies 2nd place in its National 2 group, one unit behind the leader, Aubagne.

“We have actually been preparing for the rest of the season for months, saying to ourselves that we had to lead both competitions at the same time. We only play once a week and not every three days like Rennes. Playing once a week is possible for any athlete who trains every day like our boys,” concluded the Ponot technician.
