Bola.net – PSBS Biak is not playing around in welcoming their participation in BRI Liga 1 next season. The 2023/2024 League 2 champion is immediately aiming for the title of champion in Indonesia’s highest caste competition.
This was stated by the manager, Yan Mandenas. The 41 year old figure is very confident in PSBS Biak’s ability to compete in the highest level league of Indonesian football.
“I think we will aim to win even though we are a newcomer team,” stressed Yan Mandenas.

In the last few seasons, clubs from Papua have not competed in the country’s highest level league. Persipura Jayapura is the last Papuan club to do this.
Unfortunately, Persipura Jayapura will have to be relegated to League 2 since 2022. Yan Mandenas hopes that PSBS Biak can continue the success of Mutiara Hitam in the highest level league of Indonesian football.
“PSBS was the answer after Persipura dropped to League 2, today the Papuan team is playing again in League 1. Hopefully we can create history again, namely becoming League 1 champions,” hoped Mandenas.

Furthermore, Yan Mandenas insisted that the PSBS Biak squad still needs improvement here and there. New players need to be brought in.
“Later we will strengthen several lines that are still lacking, I’m sure even now PSBS is still lacking,” said Yan Mandenas.
One thing is certain, PSBS Biak will bring in additional foreign players. They are very likely to play as playmakers.
“We don’t have a good playmaker, right-back either. One thing is certain, we will add foreign players for next season,” stressed the member of the Indonesian House of Representatives.
