Prosecuted for the death of his wife Melissa Hoskins, Rohan Dennis for the first time in court

Two and a half months after the death of his wife Melissa Hoskins, Rohan Dennis made his first appearance in court on Tuesday in Adelaide (Australia). The former time trial world champion (2018 and 2019), suspected of having killed his wife, was charged by the police with “manslaughter by reckless driving and endangering the lives of others” .

The Australian appeared free after posting bail when he was charged. The court adjourned his case to Aug. 6 to allow the prosecution to prepare its brief and determine what charges to pursue against Dennis. He made no statement in court. According to Australian media, prosecutors particularly wish to reconstruct the facts.

Dennis announced his retirement a year ago and was still under contract with Jumbo-Visma until the end of 2023. Melissa Hoskins, 2015 track team pursuit world champion, present at the 2012 and 2016 Olympic Games , ended his career in 2017 and married Dennis in 2018. The couple had two children.
