The “Practical Sports Medicine Research Group” was held on March 13th at the Yagoto Campus New Building 3, with Takashi Umeda, director of the University’s Health and Sports Medicine Research Center (professor of the Faculty of Pharmacy) serving as the representative facilitator. The study group was established in 2015 when the then “Sports Medicine Research Center” (currently the “Health and Sports Medicine Research Center”) was established. The study group gathers members and related parties at this time every year, and presents and introduces sports medicine research and activity examples, and provides feedback to the sports field about athlete training, strengthening, health management methods, etc. The purpose of this event is to discuss how to apply this technology.

This year, Professor Kazuhiro Suzukawa of Nippon Sport Science University will discuss “The effects of high-intensity exercise during training camp on the physical and mental condition of female university judo athletes,” and Ryota Kuno, a fifth-year student at the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences at our university, will discuss “Men’s University “On the effects of inflammation and stress reactions caused by competitions in archery players on immune function”, Sakiru Kato “On the effects of accumulated muscle fatigue due to practice in female university handball players on neutrophil function”, Gushiu Ms. Kyo gave a presentation titled “Effects of energy consumption during practice on immune function in female university handball players.”

After each presentation, a discussion was held with Professor Umeda facilitating Professor Suzukawa’s observation that “Men’s level of mental fatigue is higher after practices and games, and girls’ level of mental fatigue is higher before practices and games start.” , Katsuro Yoneda (professor, Faculty of Law), coach of the women’s relay race team, and Noriko Kitada, bronze medalist at the Seoul Olympics and coach of the Nihon University women’s judo club, and professor of the Nihon University College of Sports Science, will introduce ways to deal with the situation based on their own experiences. Instructors and researchers at the venue also showed recovery methods such as using and taking supplements such as icing and amino acids after the activity to prevent accumulated fatigue from carrying over into the next day, and the students eagerly took notes. .
