Potential Landing Spots for Free-Agent WR Mike Williams in NFL Free Agency

Free-agent wide receiver Mike Williams appears to be a potential target for several teams as NFL free agency lingers on

Adam Schefter of ESPN reported that the seven-year veteran is scheduled to meet with the New York Jets, Carolina Panthers and Pittsburgh Steelers this week.

Williams’ first visit will be with the Jets on Monday, and he will meet with Carolina on Tuesday, per Sheena Quick of Fox Sports Radio 1340. Schefter also reported that the Los Angeles Chargers, who Williams has spent his entire career with to this point, are also interested in the receiver.

The Steelers have had the busiest offseason among the teams meeting with Williams. The franchise acquired two new quarterbacks in Russell Wilson and Justin Fields, added Van Jefferson to the wide receiver room while dealing away receiver Diontae Johnson.

Williams would be a welcome addition to this rebuilt Steelers offense and could help the franchise contend in a loaded AFC North.

The Jets once again have high hopes as Aaron Rodgers will be back under center. The team lost him early in its season opener with a torn Achilles, and Williams would be a very strong addition to the Jets receiving core that is led by Garrett Wilson.

Carolina needs to surround 2023 No. 1 pick Bryce Young with some weapons, as it failed to do so in his rookie season. Adam Thielen led the team with 1,014 receiving yards, but D.J. Chark Jr. was next with 525 yards.

Williams put up 249 yards and one touchdown in 2023, but that was due to him missing all but three games with a torn ACL. He has 4,806 career receiving yards and 31 touchdowns, and has eclipsed 1,000 yards twice in his career.
