Poland in the Blues group at the Euro after qualifying against Wales

Poland qualified for the Euro by winning on penalties (0-0 ap, 5-4 tab), Tuesday evening in the final of path A of the play-offs against Wales, and will be in group D of the French team, the Netherlands and Austria.

During the first act, Welsh captain Ben Davies could have twice given his team the advantage. In the 17th minute, his header brushed the Polish crossbar, while his second header found the net, before being disallowed for an offside position. Returning from the locker room, the British selection again missed the opening score. This time, Wojciech Szczesny deployed to repel Kieffer Moore’s attempt.

Poland did not target a single shot

After 90 minutes during which Poland did not have a single shot on target, the match continued into extra time. More enterprising, Robert Lewandowski’s partners almost opened the scoring with a curling shot from Jakub Piotrowski (100th) which went right next to the post. Finally, at the end of the suspense, Poland qualified on penalties without having scored a single attempt in 120 minutes.

Lewandowski and his partners will cross paths with the Blues on June 25 in Dortmund, during the third and final day of the Euro group stage.
