LE SCAN SPORT – The mischievous Slovenian distinguished himself during the 2nd stage of the Tour of Catalonia (Mataro-Vallter 2000), this Tuesday.

Tadej Pogacar has more than one trick up his sleeve. Interspersed with his teammate Denim Novak behind the morning breakaway 165 km from the finish of the 2nd stage of the Tour of Catalonia (Mataro-Vallter 2000; 186.5 km), the double winner of the Tour de France (2020 and 2021) had fun in difficult weather conditions: “The Israel-Premier Tech team warned us that they were not going to defend their (Nick Schultz) jersey. So we decided to do it. We attacked from the rear and no one followed us. We got a little head start, so we decided to continue. We finally stopped to pee before hiding in the woods to play a prank. Nobody knew where we were.”

Back in the peloton, Tadej Pogacar finally quietly dominated the first mountain stage of the race by placing a sharp attack 7 km from the finish which drained his opponents.

The Slovenian (UAE Team Emirates), who had already distinguished himself by finishing 2nd in the 1st stage, beat the Spaniard Mikel Landa (Soudal-Quick Step) by 1’23” and the Russian Aleksandr Vlasov Bora-Hansgrohe) by 1 ’24.” Lenny Martinez took 5th place. “I wanted to have fun”, he summarized in L’Équipe. The disappointment of Milan-San Remo’s 3rd place was quickly swept away.
