Monday March 18, 10:49 am

During the Yonex All England, a super 1000 tournament in which the entire badminton world top participates, Selena Piek and Robin Tabing played fantastically.

During the week they managed to leave several competitors behind, including: Matthias Thyrri / Amelie Magelund (Denmark, number 22 in the world), Chan Tang Jie / Toh Ee Wei (Malaysia, number 9 in the world) and Hong Wei / Lee Chia Hsin (Chinese Taipei, world number 12: this couple won in the first round against the world number 2).

Ultimately, during the semi-finals on Saturday, March 16 in Yuta Watanabe / Arisa Higashino (Japan, No. 3 in the world), Piek and Tabing had to acknowledge their superiors with 14-21, 16-21 and settle for 3rd place.

By achieving this 3rd place, they not only achieved an unprecedented performance, but also gained many points for the world rankings. These points are important because they count towards qualification for the Olympic Games in Paris 2024.

There are three more important tournaments for Piek and Tabling in the run-up to the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. The Swiss Open, the Spain Masters and the European Championships; the points from these tournaments count towards qualification for the Olympic Games.

The final list of participants for Paris will be announced at the end of April.
