Ninth victory in the last 11 games for the very hot Pelicans who, thanks to the unexpected home slide of the Clippers, are approaching fourth position in the West. With an overcrowded infirmary (Simone Fontecchio is also always out as well as Cunningham and Duren, the Pistons’ two best players) Detroit never really manages to put Zion and his teammates in difficulty. The Pelicans immediately set the record straight and started with their foot on the accelerator, arriving at the end of the first quarter ahead by 19 points with the home team scoring only 10 points. Williamson continues to be loud and eventually finishes with 36 points, giving the entire Detroit frontline a headache. The Pelicans hold the reins of the match without ever taking risks, going on to win easily.

Costly setback for the Clippers who once again show all their recent problems and now have to roll up their sleeves to defend fourth position from the Pelicans. The LA team starts the match with the handbrake on, they don’t even pretend to defend in the first quarter and the 76ers score 41 points. Slowly the hosts wake up and with the production of Leonard and Powell they return to the game. In the third quarter George takes over, the Clips take back Philadelphia but just when the inertia seems to be in the hands of the home team the 76ers land the knockout blow. With Leonard on the bench the Clippers go haywire, Harris and Maxey score from any position and the guests run away with a 20-4 run. The rest is academic and Phila thus brings home a well-deserved success.
