PGA Tour, Arnold Palmer Invitational Lowry leads, Pavon 57th

The first round of the “signature tournament”, the Arnold Palmer Invitational ended Thursday night at Bay Hill. The leader is the Irishman Shane Lowry at -6, while the Frenchman Matthieu Pavon is 57th, above par.

Winner of the British Open in 2019 (his last victory on the PGA tour), Shane Lowry had difficulty on the Bay Hill course in previous years. Last year was the first time he made the cut in five appearances (he finished in 67th position): “It’s one of those places that some people love. I’ve had a hard time liking it over the years. It’s a nice place to come, it’s obviously a great tournament, and I’m very happy with what I did today. Maybe that’s the kind of score I need to get here to give me the confidence to play my game.”
