Performing solidly against Madura United, PSS defender Kevin Gomes was praised by Risto

Sleman

PSS Sleman defender, Kevin Gomes de Oliviera, received praise from coach Risto Vidakovic. The Surabaya-born footballer performed solidly against Madura United yesterday.

Kevin Gomes appeared as a substitute for the injured Leonard Tupamahu in the 26th minute. He entered the position of center back.

Kevin’s appearance also received praise from Risto. Because the central defender position is not the former Persis Solo player’s original position. Kevin has been playing as a left back.

“Kevin is quite a talented player in these two positions. He plays really well even though it’s not his original position,” Risto told reporters, Saturday (30/3/2024).

Kevin is not Risto’s main choice in the back line. He rarely gets playing minutes and has only appeared six times this season.

Risto admitted that he was satisfied with his performance in the last few matches even though he came on as a reserve player.

“He has proven it to me. The several times he has played the results have been quite satisfactory,” said Risto.

The UEFA Pro licensed coach also indicated that he would provide more playing opportunities for the player who is also the son of the former Persebaya coach, Gomes de Olivier.

“I think I misjudged him because I didn’t give him enough opportunities to play. He has proven to me that he deserves to play,” concluded Risto.
