Paterna’s Rising Stars: Champions in Archery, Grappling, and Jiu Jitsu at National Championships

The three young people from Paterna take the podium at the national level in the championships that have been held during this month of February in the modalities of Archery, Grappling and Jiu Jitsu, respectively

Paterna, city of sports, is in luck. Mónica Coniglio, Javier Franco and Álex Gómez, three paternal athletes, stand on the podium with the highest award of Champions of Spain in the modalities of Archery, Grappling and Jiu Jitsu, respectively.

This was announced by the Deputy Mayor of Education, Sports and Innovation, José Manuel Mora, who stated that “It is a source of pride for Paterna, the cradle and quarry of prestigious athletes, that these young people carry the name of our city, being national references while at the same time being an example of values ​​such as effort, spirit of improvement, respect and discipline necessary in our society”.

In this sense, the young archer, Mónica Coniglio, has managed to win two gold medals in the cadet category and a silver medal in the absolute category in the Spanish Archery Championship that was held from February 8 to 11 in Jaén . In this way, the Paternera athlete won first prize in the Spanish Championship in individual female cadet compound bow and in mixed team female cadet compound bow.

Within this shower of medals, neighbor Javier Franco, a member of the Cratos de Paterna Club, has also triumphed, with double gold (GI U20 62 kg/ NO-GI U20 62 kg) in the national championship of Grappling 2024 that took place in Gijón.

Finally, the paternal fighter Álex Gómez has also been recognized with the title of Spanish Champion in the sporting discipline of Jiu Jitsu, in the championship organized in Guadalajara
