The strike, launched by some of the employees with the aim of obtaining better salary conditions, is not unrelated to the Paris Olympics since it is in the workshops of the Monetary Institute that the medals are made.

“Generally speaking, production continues on the medals and we are completely within our production schedule,” a source from the establishment, however, wanted to reassure AFP, who estimates the number of strikers at around fifty. out of 430 employees. A strike which could, however, be renewed this Thursday, during the general assembly, as part of the obligatory annual negotiations (NAO) on salaries.

According to AFP, the management’s proposal provides for salary increases of 4.5% for employees earning less than 28,000 euros per year, then a decreasing percentage which falls to 1.5% for those earning between 42,000 and 48,000 euros.

On February 8, the organizing committee of the Olympic Games (Cojo) unveiled the design of the gold, silver and bronze medals for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, all made up of an authentic piece of the Eiffel Tower. . Before the medals for the Paris Olympic Games, those for the 2023 Rugby World Cup in France were also designed there.

The Paris Olympic Games will be held from July 26 to August 11, before the Paralympics (August 28 to September 8). Until then, the Cojo undoubtedly hopes that the salary demands of employees of the Monnaie de Paris will be heard so that the medals are produced on time.
