The Orlando Magic with world champions Moritz and Franz Wagner have taken the next step towards direct qualification for the NBA playoffs. The team from Florida won clearly against the Memphis Grizzlies on Saturday (local time) with 118:88 (58:34) and consolidated fifth place with 43 wins. The best six teams are directly in the playoffs, places seven to ten have to go into a so-called play-in tournament. The Miami Heat are currently seventh with 40 wins.

After three home defeats in a row, the Magic dominated the guests from Memphis from the start. Orlando was already leading by 24 points at halftime. Even after the break, the team of the two German brothers had no problem with the guests.

Franz Wagner had 13 points and four rebounds in a balanced team, but did not hit any of his four three-point attempts. The 28.5 percent hit rate from beyond the three-point line this season is by far the worst value of his NBA career; last year it was 36.1 percent. Brother Moritz scored four points.
