On Piste promotes access to nature sports

Promoting the accessibility of outdoor sports to people with disabilities is one of the commitments of On Piste, a digital platform which lists sports courses developed within territories by the Rossignol group. In partnership with the French Handisport Federation, a new label – Handi’spot – was set up to go further in the practice of nature sports

The label Handi’spot is based on a new rating grid created with the French Handisport Federation so that each person can independently assess the feasibility of the route based on their disability and constraints : width of the tread on the course, height and frequency of obstacles, foot position, mode of progression, etc. This information is the subject of a field survey by the On Piste team. They are then available on the site onpiste.com et l’application mobile.

Five voluntary territories have joined this inclusiveness project responding to the needs for precise information of athletes with disabilities. Next to 50 courses are already labeled Handi’spot and accessible on the site and the application. Handi’spot is part of the collaborative work carried out with the member territories of the On Piste network.

“The French Handisport Federation is proud to be associated with Rossignol on the ON PISTE system with the creation of the Handi’spot label. As a federation, our deep attachment to the notion of autonomy, anchored as one of our strong values, finds a particular echo in this innovative system. It represents a significant step forward, truly interesting for all people with disabilities, whatever their particularities. This partnership embodies our commitment to autonomy, offering a unique and inclusive experience to nature sports enthusiasts. »

Alison Lacroix,
On Track Manager

“Convinced that sport in the great outdoors must be open to as many people as possible, we wanted to work on making our marked sports routes accessible to people with disabilities. Concerned about offering a quality service, we naturally approached the French Handisport Federation in order to co-develop this project with their expertise. This wonderful cooperation allows us, day after day, to forge strong links with this Federation, to better understand the expectations of this public and to offer this new Handi’spot label at the service of territories and athletes! »
