Ómarsson and Muresan are crowned in the Free Motion Desafío La Titánica – La Provincia

The Free Motion Desafío La Titanica crowned the Icelandic cyclist as champion in the men’s category Ingvar Ómarsson -nominated as the best in its discipline between 2014 and 2021-, at beat Blas Rivero in a tight finalwhich he surpassed by just six seconds (2:39:31), while Constantin was third. In women, the victory went to the Romanian Manuela Muresan for the fourth consecutive time with a time of 3:12:33, completing the podium Hafdis Sigurdardottir (3:26:50) and Greete Steinburg (3:36:29).

The road to victory was not easy at all, since the participants had to face, in addition to a demanding course, the high temperatures that were experienced throughout today. The runners ran through the 140 kilometers of route that led them to travel through the implacable Valley of Tears (VoT)con four timed sections in Alto de Puerto Rico, Alto de Cruz de San Antonio, Degollada de Tasartico and the Degollada del Humo through the Valley of Las Lágrimas.

The test output was carried out at 8.00 hours in it Puerto de Mogan with the presence of the Sports Councilor, Luis Becerra; the managing director of Vithas Canarias, Gilberto Vega; Doctor Paloma Suárez, head of the Sports Medicine Unit of Vithas Las Palmas; and Jesús Zorio, events director at Free Motion. Councilors Tania del Pino Alonso Pérez, Víctor Gutiérrez Navarro, Grimanesa Artiles Oliva, Yaiza de la Soledad Llovell Hernández, William García, Juana Teresa Vega and Neftalí Sabina were also present.

New category

The great novelty of this edition was the incorporation of the category The Tilesa shortest distance with a total of 96 kilometers1,940 gradient, 17% maximum slope and three timed sections. The winners were Marta Keller-Kurach in women (1:42:14) and Willy García in the men’s category (1:37:51).

For this edition the race had the participation of more than 270 cyclists, 30% of them foreigners. Besides, The new category allowed less experienced cyclists to live the experience firsthand. of the Free Motion La Titanica Challenge.

The Vithas Las Palmas healthcare facility had around fifteen members of staff including doctors and paramedics. In addition to a small hospital, two advanced life supports (medical ambulances), two basic life supports and two rapid intervention vehicles that took care of the cyclists throughout the journey.
