Océane Dodin eliminated by Coco Gauff in the third round in Miami

Miraculously drafted as a lucky loser, Océane Dodin took advantage of the situation to reach the third round of the WTA 1000 in Miami: after a bye, she dominated the Dutch Arantxa Rus 6-4, 3-6, 6-3. The beautiful story finally ended on Sunday, against Coco Gauff, world number 3. The Frenchwoman (84th in the WTA) lost 6-4, 6-0. But she may have some regrets about the scenario of the first set.

Still outrageously aggressive, she managed to break to lead 4-2. Better, she then obtained two double break balls. Which she let slip away. At 4-3, she still led 40-0, before giving up her serve. Relaunched, above all much more regular, Gauff pocketed the last eight games of the match.

The American will face the French Caroline Garcia or the Japanese Naomi Osaka who compete for a place in the round of 16 this Sunday.
