Niners Chemnitz Basketball Team Nears Historic Final In Fiba Europe Cup

The Niners Chemnitz basketball players have continued their triumphant march through Europe. Coach Rodrigo Pastore’s protégés won the first leg of the semi-finals of the Fiba Europe Cup at Bilbao Baskets on Wednesday with 98:73 (41:46) and are therefore close to reaching the final. The second leg is scheduled for April 3rd. Then the Saxons can complete the greatest success in the club’s history.

The key to success in the Basque Country was the compact team performance. In DeAndre Lansdowne (23), Kevin Yebo (17), Jeff Garrett (14), Ousman Krubally (12) and Kaza Kajami-Keane (10), five Chemnitzers were able to score in double figures.

In the initial phase the Spaniards dominated the action. From 8:6 (4th minute), the Basques moved ahead to 23:9 by the eighth minute and defended their lead until the break. The Bundesliga team initiated the turnaround with a 9:1 run to 50:47 (23rd). At 67:58 (29th), the Niners led by double digits for the first time and even extended this lead thanks to a good hit rate and stable defense.
