Number of Indonesian representatives in Paris 2024 Olympics increased to nine after two runners, Lalu Muhammad Zohri and Odekta Elvina Naibaho, got tickets wild card. The following is a list of nine Indonesian representatives who passed Olympic Paris 2024.
The addition of two Indonesian representatives from athletics was conveyed by the Chairman of the Indonesian Olympic Committee (NOC), Raja Sapta Oktohari on Thursday (28/3). So far, Indonesia will appear in six sports at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
The 2024 Paris Olympics will take place from July 26 to August 11. This is the 33rd edition of the world’s most prestigious sporting event.
Paris has hosted the 1900 Olympics and the 1924 Olympics. This makes Paris the second city after London to host world sports events three times.
Indonesia has been performing at the Olympics since 1952 in Helsinki and continues to be a regular participant until the 2024 Paris Olympics. The following is a list of Indonesian representatives who have qualified for the 2024 Paris Olympics.
1. Arif Dwi Pangestu (Archery)
Indonesian male archery athlete, Arif Dwi Pangestu secured a ticket to the 2024 Olympics after qualifying for the semifinals at the 2023 Archery World Championships in Berlin, Germany, on August 6 2023.
Even though he is still 20 years old, the athlete born in Bantul, DIY has already appeared at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Now he is again representing the Red and White at the highest event.
2. Diananda Choirunisa/Riau Ega Agata Salsabila (Archery)
Indonesian female archery athlete, Diananda Choirunisa together with Indonesian male archer athlete, Riau Ega Agata Salsabila qualified for the 2024 Paris Olympics via the 2023 Asian Games in Hangzhou, China.
They won a bronze medal in the recurve mixed team number. This is because South Korean and Japanese archers who won gold and silver medals in similar events have already received Olympic tickets. So the quota for one Olympic ticket was handed over to the Indonesian representative.
3. Rifda Irfanaluthfi (Senam Artistic)
Indonesian artistic gymnastics athlete, Rifda Irfanaluthfi, successfully qualified for the 2024 Paris Olympics after appearing at the 2023 Artistic Gymnastics Championship in Antwerp, Belgium on October 2 2023.
The 21-year-old athlete qualified by finishing in the top 15 in the world championships. This is the first time Rifda has appeared at the Olympics after failing in the 2020 edition.
