Nigel Hayes-Davis erases Shane Larkin from the shelves. Fener

The 29-year-old American winger scored 50 points in Fenerbahçe’s victory against Berlin on Friday. Historical.

A performance for history. A short-lived NBA player (Lakers, Toronto, Sacramento), Nigel Hayes-Davis actively participated in Fenerbahçe’s demonstration against Alba Berlin this Friday in the Euroleague. Victory 103-68 for the Istanbul club against the German red lantern. Match during which the said Nigel Hayes-Davis therefore wrote history: 50 points for the former Galatasaray, Kaunas and Barcelona player, arriving at Fener in 2022. It’s a record. Until now, the American Shane Larkin held it, he who had scored 49 points in the victory of another Istanbul team, Anadolu Efes, against another German team, Bayern, on November 29, 2019. The Serbian Radivoj Korac, however, scored 99 points in C1 in 1964 with OKK Belgrade against Stockholm, well before the creation of the Euroleague (2000).

A record that the person concerned was clearly aiming for. “I wrote in my notes at the start of the season that I wanted to break the points record this year. “Right before the game, I texted my guys Jordan and Nate and told them I could see myself having a Dejounte Murray match.”, said the 29-year-old American winger this Friday, after the meeting. The man named Dejounte Murray remains on a 44-point performance during Atlanta’s victory over Boston (123-122 AD) in the NBA. “I didn’t know I was going to score 50 points, I just knew I was going to take a lot of shots”he laughed.

It’s a great honor.

And to continue: “All the credit goes to my teammates. Once I started, they did a great job finding me – and an even bigger thank you goes to Ilker [Ucer, responsable des communications et des relations avec les médias de Fenerbahce] and to the fans because the fans knew the points record was 49 and they started shouting at Saras [Jasikevicius] to get myself back in the game. It was a club effort, a team effort, and I’m very proud of myself for doing that. I am very proud of myself, the work and everything I put in. It’s a great honor.”. Honor which allows him to inscribe his name in golden letters in the big book of the Euroleague, he who made 18 of his 27 shots this Friday, including 9 of 16 at three points.
