NHL Stützle wins with Ottawa against Draisaitl’s Oilers

Tim Stützle and Ottawa win the German NHL duel with Edmonton’s Leon Draisaitl. The two ice hockey players score, as does JJ Peterka. Goalkeeper Philipp Grubauer conceded four goals.
The Edmonton Oilers led by German ice hockey star Leon Draisaitl suffered an unexpected defeat in the NHL. The Oilers lost 3:5 (1:1, 2:2, 0:2) to Tim Stützle’s Ottawa Senators, the third-weakest team in the Eastern Conference. Both German ice hockey players met.
At the beginning of the second period, Draisaitl was successful on the power play to give Edmonton a 2-1 lead, and Stützle made it 2-3 after another goal from the Oilers. The 22-year-old attacker also contributed an assist to Ottawa’s 1-1 and 3-3 equalizers. The Senators scored on the power play three minutes before the end of the game to make it 4:3 and then followed it up with a goal into Edmonton’s empty goal to decide. The Oilers remain the second-best team in the Pacific Division, but the Los Angeles Kings and Vegas Golden Knights are just three and five points behind, respectively.
Black day for Grubauer
JJ Peterka maintains the small chance of participating in the playoffs with the Buffalo Sabres. Buffalo beat the Calgary Flames 4-1 (1-0, 0-1, 3-0) and is six points behind the Washington Capitals, who occupy the second wildcard spot in the Eastern Conference, with 73 points. Peterka took the 2-1 lead in the middle of the final third and was successful for the 24th time this season. In the final minute, the Sabers scored twice into Calgary’s empty goal.
Philipp Grubauer and the Seattle Kraken were clearly defeated by the Montreal Canadiens with 1:5 (0:4, 1:1, 0:0). Grubauer was in goal from the start, but had to go behind him four times in the first 18 minutes, only saved two shots and was replaced by Joey Daccord before the end of the first third.
