In total 25 NFL franchises participate in the program global markets with 19 international territories.

NFL teams can apply for rights in international markets by submitting their proposals to the international committee for review each spring, if accepted they are granted the rights for a period of at least five years. During that time teams will have rights to pursue activities in that specific market that are consistent with what they do in their home markets. That includes digital and in-person marketing, corporate sponsorship sales, fan events and activations, children’s and youth football activities, merchandise sales, and business relationships with other sports and marketing entities in the market.
