As of: March 22, 2024 10:39 p.m

The Bayern basketball players are about to be eliminated from the Euroleague. After the defeat against Valencia, Munich’s Maccabi Tel Aviv had to admit defeat.

After the defeat against the Israelis on Friday evening (03/22/24), the Bayern basketball team’s chances of making it into the Euroleague playoffs have decreased further. The Munich team, who started the season of the European premier class with ambition, lost to Maccabi Tel Aviv 74:89 (35:48).

There are still three games against top opponents left, Bayern are one win behind in tenth place, which entitles them to the play-in tournament. Against Tel Aviv, the hosts had to do without Devin Booker, who had suffered an ankle injury on Wednesday in the bitter 68:70 loss against direct rivals Valencia Baskets.

Munich without fruit and Brankovic

Without the US center, the Munich team, who also had to compete without world champions Andreas Obst and Danko Brankovic, lost touch in the second quarter. However, in front of Max Eberl, the footballers’ new CEO, Bayern did not give up and fought their way back. Led by Leandro Bolmaro, who ended up with 21 points, they even took the lead in the final section.

But Tel Aviv, which is still hoping for a direct entry into the playoffs, got the game back under control and dominated the final minutes. Mathematically, the final round is still possible for Munich, but coach Pablo Laso’s team not only lost the direct comparison against Valencia.
