For the first time in his career, the 27-year-old athlete will therefore be able to test the free agent market. A return to New York could be a possibility, but Barkley could also decide to align with a new roster.

With the salary cap increasing by $30 million, New York could offer Barkley a very attractive contract. As the price of a second franchise player tag is around $13M for the season, the contractual offer could be a little less expensive if we add seasons.
