It is currently apparent at the sports center in Homburg-Erbach that the necessary stairs for a second escape route will be completed by the end of June and the judoka will then be able to use their training hall again. Mayor Michael Forster is particularly pleased about this, as he was committed to the rapid implementation of the necessary projects.

Forster recently met with representatives of the Judo Kenshi Homburg-Erbach association in the Erbach sports center to discuss the construction progress in the hall area where the judoka usually train. Due to fire protection regulations and a lack of a second escape route, this hall area had to be closed to training operations. After nothing had happened for a long time, the judoka used the residents’ question time at a city council meeting at the beginning of the year to draw attention to their situation.

The on-site appointment revealed that, as announced at the city council meeting, new windows with an escape door had been installed in the corner area of the hall facing the football field. There was only a little remaining work to be done here. Before the judoka can train again in their usual hall, an escape staircase must be installed, the mayor explained at the meeting.

The other processes have been processed quickly since the on-site appointment by the responsible HPS GmbH. A public tender will now be held in the coming days. After selecting the best offer, the order is then awarded. If everything goes according to plan, the staircase will be completed by June 30th. This also corresponds to what HPS managing director Ralf Weber announced on this topic to the city council.

From the beginning of July it should be possible for the judoka, who are currently training on an alternative site in the sports center, to use their usual training area again.
