Netherlands Defender Sven Botman to Miss Euro 2024 After Injury Setback

The Netherlands have to complain about an early failure around three months before the start of the 2024 European Championship finals.

Sven Botman will not duel with Austria in the “Elftal” jersey and fight for the European championship title. The 24-year-old Newcastle United defender has to undergo surgery after injuring his anterior cruciate ligament and will be out for between six and nine months.

The central defender sustained the serious injury in the FA Cup quarter-final duel with Manchester City. Botman had already injured his knee in September 2023, but decided against surgery and was back on the field in December.

The defensive giant has been one of the most promising defenders in the English Premier League since his arrival at the “Magpies” in the summer of 2022 – but he has so far been denied his debut in the Dutch national team due to bad luck with injuries.

These teams are already confirmed at EURO 2024
