He hasn’t played more than 58 games in a season since 2018-19. Simmons was injured for much of his time in the league. Ever since the Philadelphia 76ers selected him as the first overall pick in the 2016 NBA Draft. He missed his entire rookie season due to a foot injury. He was then sidelined for the entire 2021-22 season due to a back injury that came in the middle of a contract dispute with the 76ers. And now out again. His current contract, which will earn him 40.3 million dollars in 2024-25, it will expire after next season. And from there the prospect of a rich new long-term contract is difficult to predict.
