The German national soccer team will play its 1010th international match against the Netherlands on Tuesday (8:45 p.m./RTL) in Frankfurt. As a small preview, there are numbers, data and facts about the national team and the opponents.

Balance: The overall balance of over 1,000 DFB games includes 581 wins, 209 draws and 219 defeats. The goal difference is 2265:1193. In the current European Championship season there were three wins, one draw and three defeats.

National coach: Julian Nagelsmann has slightly corrected his false start as national coach with success in France. The successful 3-1 debut in October against the USA and the 2-2 against Mexico was followed by a 2-3 in Berlin against Turkey and a 0-2 in Vienna against Austria in November. After the 2-0 win in Lyon, Nagelsmann’s record before the showdown with the Dutch is now balanced: two wins, one draw, two defeats.

Netherlands: For the 46th time there will be a neighborhood duel in Frankfurt. Germany leads with 16:12 wins. 17 games ended in a draw. The DFB team led by captain Franz Beckenbauer won the most important game in the 1974 World Cup final in Munich 2-1 against the Dutch led by Johan Cruyff. On the way to their third title, Germany had to get past Oranje in the round of 16 in 1990 (2-1). Also included: Frank Rijkaard’s spitting attack and the legendary red card against Rudi-Völler. The last time the two national teams faced each other was on March 29, 2022 in Amsterdam. The friendly ended 1-1 after goals from Thomas Müller and the equalizer from Steven Bergwijn.

Squad: Captain Ilkay Gündogan faces his 75th international match against the Netherlands. Only Thomas Müller (127), Toni Kroos (107) and Joshua Kimmich (83) have made more appearances in the DFB squad than the 33-year-old FC Barcelona midfielder. Lothar Matthäus is the record national player with 150 international matches.

Debutants: The Stuttgart trio Maximilian Mittelstädt, Waldemar Anton and Deniz Undav (all 27) made their first appearance in the national team against France. Hoffenheim’s Maximilian Beier (21) could follow suit against the Netherlands. Goalkeeper Oliver Baumann (33) from TSG Hoffenheim, who has been in the squad several times, is also waiting for his international debut. However, his chances are also very slim on Tuesday in Frankfurt.

Goal scorers: Thomas Müller is the most successful scorer in the DFB squad with 45 goals. In addition to the 2014 world champion, Ilkay Gündogan (18), Toni Kroos (17), Kai Havertz, who scored for the 15th time in the 2-0 win in Lyon, and BVB striker Niclas Füllkrug (10) can also boast a double-digit number of goals.
