Nantes-Strasbourg: Kevin Gameiro crosses the 100 goal mark in Ligue 1

Like a symbol. 18 years later, with the same colors on his back, Kevin Gameiro scored the 100th goal of his career in Ligue 1 this Saturday. The striker took advantage of the meeting between FC Nantes and RC Strasbourg to reach one of the “objectives” that he had set for himself at the start of the season.

At 36 years and 10 months, he became the oldest player in history to reach this 100-goal mark. Starting at the kick-off, the Strasbourg player opened the scoring in the 3rd minute of the match, served from the right from the surface by Marvin Senaya.

In an interview with Prime Video last August, Kevin Gameiro confided that this milestone of 100 goals was in his sights. “My goal is to pass the 100 mark,” he admitted. We know that Djibril Cissé is four goals away from 100 and that he is still thinking about it (laughs). I hope I will have surpassed them by the end of the year. »

So here he is now crowned with his 100 achievements in the championship. Kevin Gameiro was 18 years old when he scored his first goal in Ligue 1 with Strasbourg. It was February 4, 2006 against RC Lens. In total, he scored 31 with RC Strasbourg, 50 with Lorient and 19 with Paris Saint-Germain, where he played for two seasons, from 2011 to 2013.

Linked to his training club until the end of the season, after an extension during the summer of 2023, Kevin Gameiro has not yet decided what action he will take in his career. “I hope it won’t be the last (season), the player continued in front of the Prime Video cameras. But it’s hard to decide on a date, I’m not going to think about my end right away. »
