Municipal Judo School of Villanueva del Fresno Shines at Judex Judo Tournament and Spanish School Sambo Wrestling Championship

The Municipal Judo School of Villanueva del Fresno, in which students from Jerez de los Caballeros participate, has celebrated another weekend full of success.

On the second day of the Judex Judo, held on March 23, the Municipal School participated with five judokas, winning two gold medals, one silver and two bronze.

Adriana Rangel and Judith García won the gold medal. The silver this time went to Fabián Domínguez. And Sofía Grosero and Marta Miralles got the bronze.

These results mean that both Adriana and Judith are classified for the final phase of the Spanish Championship to be held on April 27 in Pamplona.

Sambo Fighting Championship

The next day, Sunday, March 24, the Spanish School Sambo Wrestling Championship was held in the Tres Cantos Pavilion, in which the judokas Andrea Pardo and Judith Eloísa García participated.

Pardo came first, obtaining bronze in the 43 kg category, and García was runner-up in Spain in the 65 kg category.

25 World Titles

The coach of the Municipal Judo School is the elite athlete Margarita Montes, National coach of: Olympic wrestling, sambo wrestling, Greco-Roman wrestling and judo and police personal defense instructor, among others. She has a judo black belt, third Dan, from the Spanish Federation of Judo and Associated Sports. First Dan sambo and jiu-jitsu black belt.

Montes has 25 world titles in Europe and Spain in different combat sports modalities, including (sambo wrestling, jiu-jitsu, women’s freestyle wrestling, beach wrestling and judo). Her last World Cup was in beach wrestling in Antaya (Turkey) where she became world champion.
