Thursday and Friday: a little bit of everything
The passage of Atlantic fronts will keep the weather very changeable. The sun will be combined with bands of clouds that will circulate from west to east. The calm will prevail the closer we are to the coast and in the north-east of the country, while some precipitation will fall in the west. In this sense, it will rain both on the south face of the Pyrenees and in the Pre-Pyrenees of Lleida, where liters will accumulate. The snow level will be between 1,600 and 2,200 meters, although it will occasionally be below. The showers will also reach Ponent and the rest of the Pyrenees, without ruling out some passing drops in the rest of the country. However, they will be little in total. Good Friday will also see some showers in the interior of the Valencian Country.
Temperatures will rise a little more each day to reach maximums of between 15 and 20 °C, locally higher in the south. Therefore, the atmosphere will be milder in the afternoon and less cold in the morning. You will have to pay attention to the westerly and gale force winds, which will continue to blow strongly, especially in elevated areas and near the coast, where a maritime storm will develop. In fact, they will not be recommended days for doing activities at sea or approaching the water from the beach. But not on the tops of the mountains either, especially in the Pyrenees and Pre-Pyrenees, as the gusts of wind will be strong or very strong.
Weekend: new time change
The arrival of an active cold front will cause another more prominent weather change. The instability will increase and it may rain everywhere. With the current maps, on Saturday the sky will be loaded with the first showers in anticipation of more widespread rain on Easter Sunday.
Between Saturday evening and Sunday the precipitation could sweep the entire territory. The most abundant would be located on the southern face of the Pyrenees and the Pre-Pyrenees, as well as in more parts of the northern half of Catalonia. Some showers will also arrive in the Valencian Country and the Balearic Islands. The wind will strengthen. Some local thunderstorms, intense and accompanied by hail, are also not ruled out. Temperatures will drop again with a cool atmosphere and the snow level will again fall below 1,500 meters.
Therefore, if the idea is to spend the holidays in the Pyrenees, it will be necessary to do so well equipped and prepared. These are busy days on the roads, so caution will need to be driven across the country in case of rain, especially motorists.
Between 30 and 60 l/m² can accumulate in the Pyrenees and the Pre-Pyrenees, which will be added to those that have already fallen in recent days.
