More candidates in Jumping for the Paris Games to end the controversy

The controversy over ignoring some prominent riders and horsewomen in the Jumping preselection carried out weeks ago by the Royal Spanish Equestrian Federation for the Olympic Games has subsided. The most notable absent proper names were those of Iván Serrano and Inma Roquet. Having passed the halfway point of the XXX Andalucía Sunshine Tour, the RFHE chaired by Javier Revuelta has included both in the broad preselection for the Paris Olympic Games.

Imma Roquet and “Icenta del Maset” won bronze in the Spanish Absolute Championship last year and debuted in the Nations Cup with a good result at the CSIO in Vilamoura (0 and 4). They won the Grand Prix of the CSN5* of the League of the Royal Spanish Equestrian Federation at the Astur Equestrian Club (CHAS) in Gijón and were seventh in the CSIO Queen’s Cup in Barcelona that was held last October on the Olympic track. This year Imma Roquet was the best Spanish representation in the grand prix of the second and third week of the XXX Andalucía Sunshine Tour. In both cases with “Icenta del Maset” she was sixth and third, making brilliant runs over heights of 1.55 meters.

Iván Serrano, riding “Rain Man”, the peculiar son of “Chacco-Blue”, also had a brilliant 2023 and has started the year in the same way. In 2023, this pairing had a good Nations Cup at the CSIO in Vilamoura (Portugal), they were fifth in the Spanish Absolute Championship, they won the Grand Prix of the CSN5* Liga RFHE in Segovia and were second in the Grand Prix of the CSN5* RFHE League of the Villa de Madrid Country Club. This year they had a good Grand Prix in the CSI4* of the third week of the XXX Andalucía Sunshine Tour in Vejer, finishing with a single demolition.

In Eventing, the broad call included some riders who had not competed at the first level, but forgot about others like Manuel Senra. Everything indicates that Carlos Díaz and Esteban Benítez will be the ones who finally are in Paris.

In Dressage, pairs with averages above 70 percent had their riders called up. In this discipline, international competition has already begun in the national territory with the competitions of the Royal Andalusian School of Equestrian Art. Outside of Spain, Daniel Martín Dockx swept the recent Freestyle at the CDI 5* in Doha and throughout this weekend a good number of Spanish riders are competing in Lier (Belgium).
