MLB Elite Camp Germany 2023: A Look at the Future Stars of Baseball

As in 2023, this year we have invited almost 40 young U15 players to the MLB Elite Camp Germany in Paderborn.

MLB Europe is cooperating with the German Baseball Academy, which means we select the players, all full-time and regular DBA trainers will be on site, but MLB Europe also sends trainers and scouts together with the two MLBs primarily responsible for Europe Executives Zach Graefser and Dan Bonnano.

This year we have selected players who are age-wise MLB International Age Bracket who are considered U15, which means boys who were born after September 1st, 2008. The youngest are 2010s.

2011-ers will then be added in 2025. We will play a lot, but also collect performance data on the five physical tools (Run Tool, Throw Tool, Hit Tool, Hit-For-Power Tool). We as DBA are once again seeing the majority of players eligible to play for the youth – European Championship 2025 concentrated in one event, with the 2008 players mentioned raising the general level of play.

For Zach Graefser and Dan Bonnano, who are also responsible for who is invited to the MLB events in London, GB and Arizona, this camp in Paderborn offers the opportunity to evaluate the performance density and the general level in this country. Similar MLB camps or showcases also take place in other European countries.
