1 RelatedORLANDO, Fla. — Los Angeles Chargers coach Jim Harbaugh continued his praise for Michigan quarterback J.J. McCarthy at the league meeting Monday, calling McCarthy’s pro day the best he has ever seen and doubling down on his belief that he is the best quarterback in the NFL draft.
According to ESPN analyst Mel Kiper Jr.’s newest projected draft, McCarthy is predicted to be picked at number 11 for the Minnesota Vikings. Kiper’s projections have quarterbacks Caleb Williams, Jayden Daniels, and Drake Maye being selected ahead of McCarthy.Kris Rhim, ESPN
Harbaugh exclaimed that it was the most impressive day of throwing he has ever witnessed. As he had anticipated, when the players were around him, he heard tales of his skill both in tactics and on the field, as well as his attention to detail and intangibles. It came as no surprise, but the praise was still remarkable and uplifting.Harbaugh and McCarthy led Michigan to the national championship in January before Harbaugh left for the NFL. Since then, Harbaugh has touted his former quarterback’s skills at every opportunity. Monday was the latest example, as Harbaugh cited the various scouts and general managers surprised at how well McCarthy threw and impressed them in meetings.
Harbaugh praised McCarthy’s quarterback skills, stating that he is the best in the draft and has excellent control of an offense. He went on to say that McCarthy’s abilities are outstanding and will be successful regardless of location or climate.
