In 2021, the Minnesota Timberwolves ownership group outlined a plan for ownership change in the coming years. Alex Rodriguez aka A-Rod (former baseball star) and Marc Lore (entrepreneur) were initially supposed to acquire minority shares in the team and become the team’s majority owners at a later date.
All the more surprising was the statement by long-time owner Glen Taylor on Tuesday that both the Timberwolves and the Minnesota Lynx (WNBA) would no longer be for sale. “I will continue to work with Marc, Alex and all other owners to arrange the necessary financing for the teams so that they can continue to play at a high level,” the 82-year-old assured in his shocking statement. A-Rod and Lore were shocked and shot back at Taylor for being short-sighted and irrational.
