Mike Maignan Injured in Europa League Match Against Slavia Prague: Update on Knee Injury Status

Mike Maignan was forced off at the start of the match against Slavia Prague on Thursday in the Europa League after injuring his knee.

AC Milan spent another quiet evening on Thursday in the Europa League. A week after winning 4-2 at San Siro against Slavia Prague, the Rossoneri did it again in the Czech Republic with a 3-1 victory acquired in the first period. The Lombard club nonetheless experienced a great scare. Consequence of the exit of Mike Maignan at the start of the meeting.

The match had only started three minutes when the French goalkeeper remained on the ground after a violent collision with Slavia Prague player Lukas Provod. The former Lille player was finally able to resume the game after being strapped and even made a classy save ten minutes later on a shot from Mojmír Chytil. The ligaments are not affected

Mile Maignan feels pain in his right knee but according to the Italian press, the first findings of the Milanese medical staff are rather reassuring in nature. No ligament would in fact be affected and the French international would only suffer from a simple hematoma. When returning to the Milan bus, Mike Maignan was walking normally, without crutches or protection and had a smile.

The Lombard goalkeeper must nevertheless undergo new examinations this Friday to confirm this first diagnosis. Didier Deschamps will then know if he can count on his player for the rally which must begin this Monday to prepare for the two friendly matches against Germany (March 23) then Chile (March 26).
