Mexico Dominates Archery at Central American and Caribbean Games with Two Gold Medals

San Salvador, July 6 (EFE).- Mexico won two gold medals this Thursday in the mixed recurve teams and women’s recurve individual archery categories at the Central American and Caribbean Games in San Salvador.

The first of the day to obtain the gold metal were Matías Grande and Alejandra Valencia, who won the mixed recurve team final 6-0 over the Venezuelans Daniela Jaramillo and Ricardo Vásquez.

Jaramillo and Vásquez took the silver medal and the bronze in this category went to Cuba with a score of 5-1 over Puerto Rico.

Then, in the women’s recurve individual final, Valencia (bronze in Tokyo 2020) won gold after beating Colombian Ana María Rendón 7-1, who won the silver medal.

The bronze went to the young Mexican Angela Ruiz, who beat her compatriot and experienced Aída Román (silver in London 2012) 6-5 in a tight duel.

At the Ciudad Merliot archery range, in the central department of La Libertad, Nicholas D’amour, from the US Virgin Islands, also won gold, with a score of 6-0 in the men’s recurve individual final against Colombian Jorge Enríquez , which was silver.

In this category, Cuban Hugo Franco took bronze by beating Mexican Caleb Urbina 6-5.

Mexico has achieved five gold medals, one silver and one bronze in archery.

On Friday, in archery, the semifinals and finals will be held in the men’s and women’s individual compound, and the mixed compound team finals.
