Minister of Youth and Sports Dito Ariotedjo responded to the responses of netizens, including comic and film director Ernest Prakasa regarding photos with athletes who made the nation proud All England 2024.

The arrival of Jonatan Christie, Anthony Sinisuka Ginting, Fajar Alfian, and Muhammad Rian Ardianto received a warm welcome. The four badminton athletes appeared in the All England final. Jonatan and Ginting made it to the all Indonesian final in the men’s singles sector, while Fajar/Rian became champions in the men’s doubles sector.

Dito’s remarks on the return of the sports ambassadors received negative comments from netizens.

During the reception, a number of photo sessions were held. Apart from Fajar/Rian, Ginting and Jonathan taking photos together, there was also a photo session of the athletes with officials forming a sideways line.

When taking photos together, Dito and PP PBSI Secretary General Fadil Imran were in the middle. Then the host of the welcoming ceremony asked the All England champion athletes to take photos in the middle and the officials moved to the side. In the video circulating, Dito did not move from where he was standing.

This provoked comments from netizens. Not a few criticized the Minister of Youth and Sports for not moving from his position. One of those who criticized it was Ernest Prakasa.

Menpora Dito then gave an answer via the X/Twitter account. When confirmed by CNNIndonesia.com, he confirmed that the account was his. Dito admitted that he was asked to stay in the middle during the photo session.

“Can I tell you a little. Because of the euphoria, there were lots of photo sessions, and the part that was uploaded was my part, which was asked by the photojournalist in the middle with the athletes. Only after that, the others were asked to separate from the athletes, except me. Sorry it was so busy like this. ‘It’s a bit different’ visible if not at the location,” wrote Dito on Twitter in response to Ernest’s criticism.

Furthermore, Dito did not mind Ernest and netizens’ criticism. The Minister of Youth and Sports considers this incident to have made the public more enthusiastic in providing support for athletes.

“But it’s okay, the bright side is that now there are so many netizen friends that we can also cheer on our champions! The most important thing is that the badminton athletes who are going to the Olympics are more motivated and enthusiastic!” wrote the Minister of Youth and Sports.

The Minister of Youth and Sports also tried to explain to Ernest about the photo incident with the 2024 All England champions by providing a news link. Ernest also expressed his gratitude for the response given by Dito.

“Thank you for the response. I’m RT [re-tweet] Yes, it can be balanced too. Greetings,” wrote Ernest.
