Meilysa/Rachel win the 2024 Orleans Masters

Jakarta (ANTARA) – Indonesian women’s doubles Meilysa Trias Puspitasari/Rachel Allessya Rose emerged as champions of the 2024 BWF Super 300 Orleans Masters tournament, after winning the final match over fourth seeds from Japan Rui Hirokami/Yuna Kato 21-12, 21-18, Sunday.

The final match, which lasted 56 minutes, was quite tough, where the two top pairs were able to match each other’s positions well.

In the first game, Meilysa/Rachel, who were seeded sixth, were able to maintain solid dominance. Based on official statistics, the Indonesian pair even won the first game interval with a score of 11-4 over Hirokami/Kato.

After the break, Cambodia’s 2023 SEA Games silver medalists did not let up their enthusiasm and continued to control the game over the Japanese pair, until finally they won the first game with a score of 21-12.

Different from the first game, the second game was more intense. Hirokami/Kato, who were slightly behind, slowly started to catch up at the start of the second game with a temporary score of 7-4, 10-7. With persistence, Meilysa/Rachel started collecting four points in a row until they won the interval with a thin margin of 11-10.

The battle for points was fierce again, and both pairs took turns to hold the advantage. When the scoreboard showed the numbers 16-16, the Indonesian pair continued to try to control the match, until finally victory was achieved with a score of 21-18.

Not only Meilysa/Rachel, two other Indonesian representatives in the 2024 Orleans Masters final also brought home medals. Mixed doubles Rinov Rivaldy/Pitha Haningtyas Mentari had to settle for coming out as runners up after losing to Chinese pair Cheng Xing/Zhang Chi in a tight rubber game 21-16, 18-21, 15-21.

Apart from that, there was also the men’s doubles Sabar Karyaman Gutama/Mohammad Reza Pahlevi Isfahani who came home with a silver medal after losing to the Malaysian pair Choong Hon Jian/Muhammad Haikal in a rubber game 15-21, 21-18, 14-21.

Moving on to Hanoi, mixed doubles debutants Amri Syahnawi/Indah Cahya Sari Jamil also came out as runners-up in Vietnam International Challenge 2024 after losing to Thai representatives Pakkapon Teeraratsakul/Muenwong Phataimas 19-21, 12-21.
