Matthijs de Ligt: “A Transfer is Not an Option for Me”

After his national team’s 2-1 defeat against Germany, De Ligt found clear words in an interview with Bild: “I’m playing, the fans give me a lot of love. A change is therefore not an issue for me.” A transfer in the summer is not an option: “I’m not thinking about a change and can absolutely rule it out. I’m a Bayern Munich player and I’m happy and happy to be here.”

The 24-year-old is currently part of Thomas Tuchel’s central defense team alongside Eric Dier. In the meantime, he also had a difficult time: “It’s not easy when you’re outside. Upamecano and Minjae are currently experiencing that.” Nevertheless, he rejected transfer rumors in an interview with Sky: “You can now see it with Upamecano and Kim: They haven’t said anything, but it’s written everywhere that some clubs want these players. That’s often the problem and it’s not true the reality.”

On Saturday, March 30th, the classic against Dortmund will take place in the Allianz Arena. “This is a very important game for us. They have a good team. Hopefully we can win again,” emphasized the 24-year-old at Bild. He’s not writing off the championship either: “We always have to believe in it. But of course we’re also realistic: We’re now ten points behind Leverkusen and they’d have to lose ten points first. And we’d have to win everything. What’s important is that we Just look at ourselves and we’ll win our own games!”
