Manchester City Defeats Kobenhavn and Advances to Champions League Quarter-finals

“City” defeated the Danish team “Kobenhavn” at home with the result 3:1 (3:1) and was superior in the sum of two matches with 6:2.

The home team scored the first goal after five minutes played, when Manuel Akanji beat the visiting goalkeeper, and Julián Alvarez doubled the lead four minutes later.

The Copenhagen team managed to reduce the deficit to one accurate shot after 20 minutes, Muhamed Eljonusi scoring, but Erling Holland restored the two-goal advantage during first half stoppage time.

On the other hand, “Real” played a draw with “Leipzig” at home with the result 1:1 (0:0), but in the sum of two matches, the Madrid team was superior with 2:1.

The Leipzig team did not take advantage of scoring opportunities in the first half, and the home team made it 1-0 after 65 minutes played, when Vinicius Junior sent the ball into the visitors’ goal in a counter attack after Jude Bellingham’s pass.

Three minutes later, the visitors tied the game, with a precise shot by Willy Orban. During the compensation, the German team could have evened the score in the series, but the ball hit the crossbar.

In the first match of the round of 16, “Real” beat “Leipzig” 1:0.

It has already been reported that Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) and Bayern Munich reached the quarter-finals on Tuesday.

32 teams played in the main tournament of the Champions League. The two best teams of each sub-group made it to the round of 16, while the third-placed team will continue their season in the UEFA Europa League knockout tournament.

The final will be held on June 1, 2024 at Wembley Stadium in London.

Manchester City won the Champions League last season, beating Italian club Inter Milan 1-0 in Istanbul, winning the competition for the first time.
