A few months after leaving the world of rugby, Louis Rees-Zammit is about to commit to an NFL (American football) franchise and not the least. According to NFL specialist Jordan Schultz, the Kansas City Chiefs, two-time reigning Super Bowl winners, should attract the Welshman to their ranks.

A reconversion which seems to be going rather well for Louis Rees-Zammit. The Welshman, 23, left rugby union at the start of 2024 to embark on a dream of a career in the NFL (American football). After joining the “NFL’s International Player Pathway Program”, a gateway that can allow high-level athletes to join the biggest US football league, Louis Rees-Zammit showed himself well by passing physical tests in front of recruiters, interested in his profile. Several franchises have launched into the Welshman’s file and he should sign up with one of the most prestigious.

A contract awaits Rees-Zammit with the Kansas City Chiefs

According to NFL expert Jordan Schultz, the former rugby player should have his first experience in the NFL alongside the Super Bowl MVP of the last two years, Patrick Mahomes. Louis Rees-Zammit is in fact expected this Friday in Kansas City, to sign with the Chiefs, two-time reigning winners of this same Super Bowl.

Still according to Jordan Schultz, the Welshman should play the position of running back (runner) or wide receiver (receiver). He will be able to show all his explosiveness, he who had already shown his speed by running a time of 4.44 seconds in a 40-meter sprint with a standing start during the physical tests carried out in front of the recruiters.

Aside from the Kansas City Chiefs, three other franchises were interested in the explosive Welshman. The New York Jets, the Cleveland Browns and the Denver Broncos had looked into the Rees-Zammit file.

We will now have to see if Louis Rees-Zammit plays with the Chiefs first team or the practice squad. NFL offseason workouts begin in April and rookie training camps begin in May. Full training camp begins in July before teams confirm their final 53-man roster usually around the end of August, with the new season beginning on September 5.

The Welshman will still have time to impress his new franchise in order to be part of the group of Mahomes and company, which will conquer a third consecutive Super Bowl, a performance never achieved in the history of the NFL.
