Longtime Nuggets Fan Banned from Arena for Alleged Code of Conduct Violations

NBA – Nuggets subscriber for 32 years, Vicki Ray, 72, allegedly violated the league’s code of conduct on too many occasions.

A 72-year-old Nuggets fan was simply banned from the Ball Arena after being a subscriber to the Denver franchise for 32 years! At a time when the NBA is increasingly attentive to the behavior of fans, whether towards the players, the benches or the refereeing body, this “super fan” paid a high price for behavior that would have too often comes close to regulation. Consequence: “Kroenke Sports & Entertainment”, the company at the head of the Nuggets, formalized its ban from the room.

“We have made the difficult decision to revoke the membership of a longtime fan due to repeated violations and warnings of the NBA Code of Conduct as well as the Ball Arena Code of Conduct. We are saddened to have to take this action, but we took it in accordance with league and venue guidelines”wrote Jim Mulvihill, marketing and communications director of the Nuggets.

Accused of hitting a player…

Through her status, Vicki Ray had obtained certain privileges, such as being able to bring signs to brandish at the edge of the field, or even being able to enter the room before the rest of the public and stay afterwards, when the players found their families and friends.

Privileges which were gradually withdrawn from her, until a new incident, when she was accused by the hall security service of having grabbed a referee… and hit a player in the face! Accusations that she refutes, waiting for the Nuggets to provide video evidence.

On the other hand, she admitted to regularly giving “cards” to officials. “I did that, it’s true. But I passed notes to referees for 25 years. Christmas cards, birthday wishes, all that”

, she told a reporter from CBS News Coloradowho went to her house, where he discovered a veritable museum to the glory of the Nuggets, even finding a photo of Vicki Ray with… Tariq Abdul-Wahad.

Other voices claim that Vicki Ray’s behavior had become problematic, which led to complaints from players and referees.

To definitively close the case, “Kroenke Sports & Entertainment” told CBS News Colorado that it had sent Vicki Ray’s lawyers video and written evidence to justify their decision.
