Liverpool Suffers Dramatic FA Cup Exit Against Manchester United: Klopp’s Farewell Tour in Doubt

Jürgen Klopp failed dramatically with Liverpool FC in the FA Cup. In the thrilling quarter-finals at Manchester United, Liverpool lost 3:4 (2:2, 2:1) after extra time – Amad Diallo (120+1) made the late decision for the hosts and was then sent off with a yellow-red card because he took off his jersey while celebrating.

In a duel with many twists and turns, Liverpool made it 3-2 (105th) in extra time thanks to Harvey Elliott’s goal, but Marcus Rashford (112th) and Diallo countered.

Klopp has two more chances for the title on his farewell tour: Liverpool is doing well in the championship and the Europa League, and the Reds have already won the League Cup. Klopp, in office since 2015, is leaving Liverpool in the summer.

Things had already been turbulent beforehand. Argentine world champion Alexis Mac Allister (44th) and superstar Mo Salah (45th + 2) scored for Liverpool. Scott McTominay (10th) and the Brazilian Antony (87th) were successful for Manchester. Immediately before the end of regular time, Rashford missed a huge chance to score the late winning goal for United (90+4).

ManUnited will face second division club Coventry City in the semi-finals. Manchester City faces Chelsea FC. Both matches will take place on the weekend of 20/21. It will be played at Wembley Stadium in April, the exact dates have not yet been determined.
