Little champions grow… The boys of DRK Capannori Nuova Sa.Ca. Baseball, in fact, they became Tuscan champions, winning, in Sesto Fiorentino, the “Tuscany Indoor League Under 12 baseball”, the winter championship organized by the Italian Regional Baseball and Softball Federation (Fibs), in which the clubs from Antella took part, Lancers Lastra a Signa, Siena, Fiorentina, Monteriggioni, Padule Sesto and Livorno.
The Capannori team, led by coaches Marco Simi, Marina Cadringer, Carlo Mori and Emanuele Sanson and by sports director Corrado Sarti, has always been at the top of the group, giving its best in the final against Livorno Baseball.
“The club and the entire community of Lucca and Capannori that they represent are proud of our boys – declared president Giancarlo Mannini –. Despite being small, they have always played with attention, discipline and fair play, honoring the shirt. For us It is important that children find a serious and welcoming sporting environment in which to express themselves, carrying forward the values of sport.”
The boys who participated: Francesco Brogi, Francesco Cadringher, Gabriele D’Amico, Roberto D’Amico, Edoardo Frediani, Francesco Gaggini, Luca Martini, Lorenzo Porto, Martin Prosper, Kevin Prosper, Giorgio Sanson, Samuele Sposito and Elia Sposito. They also proudly celebrated their teammate Federico Bianchi, awarded as MVP (most valuable player) of the tournament: an award dedicated to the memory of coach Franco Grappolini.
The summer championship will start soon and, for the little ones of DRK Capannori, the victory of the “Tuscany indoor league” represents an important goal, as well as for the young club.
