More than five years since Émilano Sala died in a plane crash, the legal conflict between Cardiff and FC Nantes is not yet over. “What today’s proceedings reveal is that Cardiff assigned FC Nantes without any real basis and without having carried out the necessary work. It is incredible that after more than 10 months of proceedings, Cardiff is still seeking to build its case. As the FCN has already argued, Cardiff’s action is completely unfounded and revolves around an absurd legal thesis aimed at making the FCN responsible for the death of Emiliano Sala. Cardiff seeks in vain to justify requests to which it has contented itself with giving strong media coverage. The Welsh club knows perfectly well that its claims are artificial and cause damage to the FCN which continues to suffer harassment from Cardiff., took offense to the lawyers Maître Jérôme Marsaudon and Maître Louis-Marie Absil. The Welsh club, in the Premier League at the time of the tragic accident, has already had its claims before FIFA and the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) rejected.
