Lee Zi Jia Looks to Bounce Back at All England after Early French Open Exit

Malaysian badminton star Lee Zi Jia returns to action this week, following an early exit at the BWF French Open last Wednesday (6 March).

His round of 32 defeat in Paris, with Denmark’s Magnus Johannesen, was over in just 41 minutes.

Ranked world No.10 in men’s singles, Lee will be hoping for success at the All England from 12 to 17 Marchto gain ranking points that could improve his potential Olympic draw at Paris 2024*.

The 25-year-old will be eyeing a turn of the tide after failing to reach a final in any of this year’s competitions so far.

He suffered a first-round exit at the Malaysia Open, before quarter-final defeats at the India Open and Indonesia Masters in January.

He’s a former All England champion, and will be hoping to rediscover the form that took him to the semi-final stage in all of the last four years.

It won’t be an easy task, with Lee’s first opponent in Birmingham, UK, being Japan’s world number 6 Naraoka Kodaiwith a potential second-round match-up with either Loh Kean Yew or BY Ja Long Angus awaiting him in the event of a victory.

*As National Olympic Committees have the exclusive authority for the representation of their respective countries at the Olympic Games, athletes’ participation at the Paris Games depends on their NOC selecting them to represent their delegation at Paris 2024.
